Lucky to have a friend

I just been thinking how lucky I am even to have Diesel. I had no intention of getting a dog, I had a dog, Little Man, a very strong Pit Bull. He was about eleven years old so I guess that in the back of my mind, I new Little Man would not be around forever. He passed on from cancer about three months after we got Diesel. I know that Diesel was how I got through having to let Little Man go. It was like he knew he had big shoes to fill and he is such a good dog! This dog has never chewed on any thing of ours, listens to most commands, never crapped in the house, and the one time he did pee, we scared him so bad he has never tried it again. I do not know what made me fall in love with this mutt, cause that is what he is, half Great Dane, half Pit Bull . I had raised pure breed Pits for almost fifteen years before, so it would seem that I would stick with the breed. The truth is I had grown tired of keeping Pit Bulls, they are extremely dangerous to other animals not to mention humans. What ever, I have no idea why I fell for a little puppy, I'M JUST SO GLAD THAT I DID!

Jan. 21 Walk Just got me thinking

Ever wonder why some people have pets. I gave it some thought today as I walked my dog, Diesel. My neighbor's little dog "Precious" is in "heat". So for the last few days we have had a steady stream of suitors, seeking her affection. Some were strays, some from the neighborhood. Not sure who to blame, I just wish that when people got a pet, that they would be responsible for it. I don't want to call the pound, my slack neighbors would just get other dogs. Why is this legal, I mean, is pet ownership a right? For that matter why did you get the animal in the first place. Was it cute? Did you want to help a friend get "rid" of the cute little critters. You know, give them a good home where you leave them in a pen in their own crap, or on a chain left to rot or die, which ever comes first. I mean think about it, why ... Any way Diesel and I had a great walk. The weather was cold put clear today. Good two miles or so.

Walking in the Winter

It is COLD today, wind must have been blowing twenty five miles an hour. I t was hard to stay warm. I turned around an came back and got some gloves. Diesel did not seem to mind as long as he got to walk up the road and pee in his favorite spots. Good day for us both!

Diesel's snow walk

Todays walk was fun because it's SNOWING, harder to walk in but more fun to look at. We got started before it got to bad, but we may go out later for a night walk in the snow, if we do I will post the pictures.

Diesel went down to Georgia

Diesel and me took off Friday to go to Georgia to take a piece of art work to the Dream Givers Gallery in Toccoa. The drive started out cold, as it had snowed here in the Charlotte area the day before. Diesel did not want to get out of the car to pee, it was so crappy. We got a late start, so we did not get there until afternoon. The sun came out and it warmed up to the middle fifties, so after we dropped off the picture at the gallery, we went to the Toogaloo State park right on the Georgia border with South Carolina. The Toogaloo river is very low because of a drought that has been going on since last year, I took some pictures with the cell phone cam, and you can see how long the beach is, all of that is usually under ten to fifteen feet of water. We walked about two miles of trail and came back to the car by the road that runs through the park. Nice day!

Diesel likes a laser, way to much

Today on the dog blog

Well today we went about two and a half miles, crap, it just about killed me. Walking Diesel is a tough job, but what a way to lose weight. I will send pictures starting in the morning of every walk that we take. I have started this post as a way to reduce stress, let's see if it works.thanks for the read.
